Lost and alone at sea - Fives' Poems
Over the last couple of weeks, the Fives have begun studying Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. In the story, during the family's worldwide voyage on their beloved boat The Peggy Sue, Michael, the protagonist, gets washed overboard into the middle of the ocean. Our boys brainstormed ideas and vocabulary together before writing their own poems inspired by being lost and alone at sea; read on to see 5G's imaginative efforts...
Nowhere
I was thrown overboard by the push of the waves
I was thrown into the cold, dark sea
I was sent away from the lights of the Peggy Sue
As the smelly seawater was ramming rapidly into me
As I was gasping for air,
I started losing hope of surviving
I felt sick and weak
Shivering with the smell of salt and seaweed
I felt like a mere mortal
Drifting to sleep slowly
In the middle of nowhere
By Folarin Abudu
The watery gates of hell
I was thrown overboard
By a gust of wind
And then I knew as my
Hands were full I was
Overboard …
I was now in a treacherous
Tumultuous place of fear
I was being wacked violently
By ferocious waves
And then a humongous
Rolling wave toppled on me.
I was petrified .
SPLASH!
I was gasping for air.
I had no idea
How I was alive.
All I could smell was salty
Seaweed and water.
I was past the gates of
Hell and I was bone shiveringly
Cold.

Lost at Sea
The quick fear trembling through me,
Drowning in the raging thunder,
The colossal waves, like god punishing me,
Massive amounts of shivering fear,
UNBEARABLE sound of my stomach screaming,
UNBEARABLE fear,
UNBEARABLE violence. . . . .
Terrifying fear trembling through my upper spine ,
Like the grim reaper carrying me through the watery gates of hell,
The fear going through me as if I’m being thrown into a lion pit
Whatever I think about is. . . . .
FEAR
FEAR
ONLY FEAR!
The roaring waves crashing above me
The sound of the gates of hell opening to let me in.

Lost at Sea
Bang went the slap of me hitting the water.
Smash went the wave above my head.
I felt the sharks closing in.
But wait! A glimmer of hope for me.
My dog oh what a lovely sight!
Oh no it is not what it seems .
My ball, it’s my ball!
I must cling onto it as my only chance for life.
But as soon as I do a shark's fin cuts out like a knife.
But as soon as it does I see land, people and life.
I'm on the land.
I’m here.
It is ok.
I'm alive.

Stranded
As you plummet towards the ocean,
What do you think?
Is this the end?
Will you survive?
Will you ever see the light of day again?
SPLASH!
You feel the gush of water from falling such a height!
As you slip away into the dark,
You fight hard but it’s in vane!
You feel life is dragging itself towards death!
But then your head hits the soft sand,
“I’m safe!” you exclaim!
You bring your head out the water and see an island with a massive jungle.
You go to sleep to pass some time,
To stay in a circle to trap the heat.
Waking up with such a fright because there is a gorilla standing over you!
You try to run but then …
Out the corner of your eye you see a boat
The people are signalling to you to come,
You realise it’s your family!

Lost in the Sea
I’m alone in a stormy sea,
The wind howling through my ears,
I'm alone.
I can’t be saved.
The giant wave is gobbling
me up once and once I’m trying to
escape but I failed.
I got washed up on an island and I
survived.
I have been lost for months, years until
ONE day……

Lost In A Neverending Void
Trembling, I was slowly losing strength.
Raging, roaring waves flying past me.
BANG! As the waves collided I had drifted to sleep
But miraculously I was still afloat in the cold night.
The wind whistled as I longed to stop fighting,
But I couldn’t, I knew I couldn’t.
I waited for what felt like hours but were mere minutes for the waves to guide me to shore, but they just wouldn’t.
So there I was, in the middle of a neverending void.

Drowning
Drowning, below the watery
Gates of Hell,
Drowning, in the treacherous
Sea of blue,
I am Drowning, below the ferocious
and towering waves,
Smelling salt, tasting salt, salt
everywhere,
Drowning, through the blue
darkness,
Shivering, trembling, bone-chilling cold
water around me,
And as I drown, I think, ‘How much
time do I have left? ‘
I am petrified, I am losing
air rapidly.
I can’t swim up, I am far too
deep.
The biting cold beneath me is
Consuming my body.
I am now gone, dead and
Belonging to the deep.
By Caspar Murning
Lost at Sea
As I float across the sea
Frozen dying of cold
I think of horrors lurking in the deep
Ready for the kill.
I am terrified, petrified trying to stay above.
My eyes
Are drifting like the waves moving up and down.
Wait! What’s that
Swirling around me and what are those
Translucent creatures?
Splash!
I've gone under
Argh! I've been bitten
And…
Now there it is, the doors of death
I now a shade
And now to serve Hades
Creak!
Now the doors open

Lost At Sea
I was thrown overboard by
the watery gates of hell into the
Salty depths of the sea.
The boat drifting away out of sight
That my cries for help would not
be heard.
I lie there in the dark and gloomy
sea, paddling for life.
As I lie I think of the shark
swimming quickly at me getting
ready to devour me.
As I go down
and down and down…

Drifting into sea
The boat was
rocked around,
The towering wall
Of sea looming over us.
The smell of salt
Burned my throat,
As the winds
howled and howled.
The rain lashed
At us like the whip
Of a circus trainer,
We cowered as the
blue lion poised over
us for the kill.
The waves smashed
Into the side of the boat
with a crash,
As we drifted off into
The treacherous sea.

Lost at Sea
The rapid fears:
The extreme cold
The slimy creatures
The howling wind.
The waves: a monster
The ship: now shrapnel.
Slimy seaweed; chaotic creatures,
The eyes gouged out, the blind
entities, now sinking, sinking,
Sinking…
Thunder and lightning
Striking and killing
The sea and land:
Smashing boats and structures.
I wake on an island
Of endless prosperity
I think to myself,
‘You are safe now.’
One day later,
The storm was gone.
The thunder and waves
Were not at all fun.

LOST AT SEA
Here at sea my story ends,
Without an echo, the sea pretends.
My life, same as the reckless sailors,
mountainous waves, makes me paler.
But still, there is a glimpse of hope
My life will not end, to death? Nope.
As the torch of life reached my soul,
My body arose from hell, they saved my whole.
Since then, sailing became one’s past
As said, nothing would forever last.
But the courage of sailing belonged to my family
So I decided to let my son carry the legacy happily.
