Senior Spelling Bee - Geordie Lindsay Wins with 'Reconnaissance'

Before half term, the Seniors competed in the Senior Spelling Bee in the New Hall in front of the whole school. In the judges' chairs were an emotional Mr Hodgetts and an excitable Mr Compton-Burnett who had to dig deep into their word lists to outfox the talented spellers competing; the standard continues to improve year on year. Some of the words spelt correctly this time around included: chrysanthemum, conscientious, auxiliary, philosophical, pterodactyl and vengeance.

A big well done goes to all of the finalists:

1S Johnny Moesel
RB Aidan Yu
RS Hugo Playfair
RJ Geordie Lindsay
MCB James Halford-Harrison
MJ Maksud Magomedov
MH Jake Jung
6H Andy Xu
6D Proad Devaphalin
6A Hector Lindsay

In the end, it was a straight shootout between Johnny Moesel and Geordie Lindsay. Geordie finally managed to pip Johnny to the trophy by correctly spelling the tricky word 'reconnaissance'!
